I bought what I thought were two barred rock at two days old and now they are 4 months. One, Jekyl, that looks like pictures I've seen of barred rocks, started laying eggs this week, two oddly, this morning. I stayed in shed to identify which one was laying and when Jekyl got up, two eggs were there. The other, Twitter, does not look like a barred rock, doesn't crow, and doesn't go around hen house

. I thought I had two girl barred rock but now not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Twitter is also laying, if you got two eggs, unless one was laid the day before. They will only lay one a day. It takes 24 hours for them to produce an egg.

That is good to know about the 24 hr cycle. Jekyl started laying on Monday and the only chicken now that doesn't join others to eat outside for breakfast, rather stays in box. Before chores, no eggs. After chores, she was still in box, and when she got up, these two dinky eggs, one with white spots on it, we're under her. The white spots went away after time in fridge.
I am super excited to know I have two out of my 11 chickens laying
