Yeah, I agree with this. You've only got one that looks like it could be a barred rock, and you definitely have a speckled sussex. No idea on the 4th one. Quite the variety!

I thought the speckled one was just some variation of barred rock, but you're probably right about it being a sussex mix. I'm now wondering about the one on the deck with the black tail. It's funny that they were advertised as barred rock hens. I don't mind the mix at all, it's pretty nice to get such a variety with one purchase. :-D

We have a Tractor Supply nearby. If I were to toss out a wild guess, they may have purchased a cold hardy mix of egg layers and let them go broody. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/brown-egg-production-pack-chicken-sold-in-quantities-of-10 She looks a lot like the one pictured in the middle (uneducated opinion). We'll probably have a better idea if I can get her in the coop and see what her eggs look like in a month or two.

Off-topic: How long until they update spelling changes to usernames? I made a typo when creating the account and it's driving me batty.

Update: Name fixed! A neighbor on Facebook said it looked like a brown leghorn mix. *shrug*

The fourth hen is now the last of the four that hasn't followed suit with the others to go to the coop at night. Hoping she wises up in the next few days.
