Looks like an Americana/Easterr egger hen to me. If that is the case they can be a little late on laying.......

Good luck!

Thank you! but i just can't understand why she isn't laying!
could you also tell me if this is a pullet or a hen, she is also 8 months old and hasn't started to do anything towards the idea of being able to sex her and reamains very small.

The first chicken is a hen. (If it was a rooster it would have longer curled tail feathers, and shiny pointed feathers at the neck and tail)
The second chicken is a cockerel. (That color is called barred. Barreding is sex-linkable meaning the color is different for each sex. Females have larger black bars, and males have larger white bars)

How sure are you about their ages? The second looks like a young cockerel -- more like 3 months than 8. The first looks girly. Winter can delay the onset of laying and if you've just gotten her, the stress of moving can as well.

Hen. I agree that winter or stress might mean no eggs. Or take a look on your property for a hidden nest. I thought my Easter Egger hen was behind the curve because she hadn't started laying. Then I found a nest with about ten mint-colored eggs in it under my shed.

I"m thinking the same thing about the barred bird. It's cockerel colored, but if it's eight months I guess it's a hen...........that would be very, very weird.
