At 21 days -
Yesterday one egg cracked in an almost perfect circle around the pointy end, about the size of a quarter.

Any idea what's going on?

If its been over 24 hours do some research on if you should help or not, otherwise I wouldnt do anything, after reading if they have the external pip, the chick has already penetrated the inner membrane & shell and can breathe. It sounds like it happens alot! Most times they are fine! It may be taking a breather, careful if you help before the blood vessels are dried! Finger Crossed!! this is a "paste" from my incubation record on a thread I started

TO ASSIST OR NOT TO ASSIST: I will refer AGAIN to end of https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/491013/goose-incubation-hatching-guide-completed for how to help a chick.

No pip yet, just a hairline crack all the way around, which doesn't appear to be opened up all.

Thanks for all the informative links.
I hope it turns out ok, how many do u have in? I have silkies in and they all have detached air cells

Started out with I believe 41 eggs.

After candling, that was whittled down to 8 eggs (we only have one rooster at the moment for 33 hens).

I'm getting nervous about the 8 eggs, it seems more should be happening by now.

They're a combination for Rhode Island Reds, Egyptian Fayoumi, Jesery Giants, Amercuana, Red Star, and Autralorps.

Fingers crossed!

Just started aid the hatching process, after reading those links.

Boy is that nerve-racking.

Got a section of the shell about the size of a nickle peeled back and wetted the membrane.

How long before I start picking off more pieces?
