Hi Everyone,
Can anyone give me any suggestions about this?
I got my chicks on tuesday, they have all been doing well except for one that died the night before last, didn't look sick just layed down and didn't get up.
Yesterday evening one brown leghorn suddenly got a pastey bottom and was very lethargic. since then she is just laying down constantly, not eating or drinking, poop is runny and white and has a strange smell. She is also making a strange noise when she breathes, kind of a clicking, noise.
We seperated her last night as the others were all picking at her.
Any idea what might be wrong or what we can do for her?
Thank you.

Jennifer.....make sure her bum is clean. sometimes when they get pasty butt, they get it every day, for a few weeks! Its terrible to have to mess with it...but if you dont, the baby wont survive. Were the vaccinated? I would call the hatchery you ordered them from, and tell them whats going on. Keep the little one seperate...try giving a little sugar water...and maybe boiled egg yolk. Keep us posted.
