Hello all. Well we have a super broady hen. Shes laying on several eggs. She likes to eat the baby chics once theyve pipped through and are half way out.. we dont have an incubator.

Weve been checking the eggs every few hours. This morning we checked one was barely chipped and the baby insode was chipping up a storm wiggling around in there. So we took it out, put it under a lamp poored water on the rag and sat it in therem went on to our day because it was last day of vaca and needed to get out. So 10hrs later we came home. To a completely beautiful fluffy out the way out of the shell.....dead chic!!!!!

She looked normal jist dead. What happened!????????

Thanks

Maybe the lamp wasn’t hot enough because when they hatch and are wet they need to be super super warm so that’s my guess also one time I put a wet towel in my incubator and it fell onto the egg and absorbed all the water from the egg so the chicks feathers and skin were attached/stuck onto the shell of the egg and I had to very carefully help it hatch NEVER DO THIS unless you have waited over fourty eight hours and she was trying to hatch for that long but it was stuck to her head and long story short I got it off and surprisingly enough she’s still alive today! Sorry that might have gone a little off topic but that wouldn’t have happened if your chick was all hatched out so probably just it needed more heat that’s my only guess
