Ok, I'm a newbie to chickens and especially all thing broody so I have a few questions
My momma just started hatching her babies (early I might add). Do I need to separate her from general population? She's in a nesting box in the main coop. I removed the dividing wall between her and the nesting box next to her to make her space bigger and put in a little chick feeder and a tupperware with water, then I put chicken wire up to block her area from the rest of the main coop so she can hatch the rest of her chicks without the three already hatched escaping.
Once they're all hatched do they need to be separated with their momma?
Do you all vaccinate your home hatched chicks? If so how?
If I have to separate her when can I reintroduce the momma and babies back into general population?
Also one more random question. I have another broody hen who was sitting on a clutch of eggs. She kept moving nesting boxes and collecting more and more eggs. At most she was on her eggs for a week. I took the eggs (because she abandoned them for a different box). Can those eggs be eaten? Or do I have to dump them?
Thank you so much!!
