JUST HAS A CHICK HATCHS 4 MINUTES AGO AND HE SEEMS HIS BELLYBUTTON HOOKED TO A PIECE OF MEMBRANE ON THE EGG.nO BLOOD AND HES OUT BUT SOMEHOW IS ATTACHED
THIS IS THE FIRST CHICK TO HATCH AND 2 MORE ARE TRYING SO WHAT DO I DO ?ANYTHING?
WILL IT COME OFF ON ITS OWN?? wILL IT HURT HIM? hE CANT WALK BECAUSE HES DRAGGIN G THE SHELL
DO I OPEN THE INCUBATOR WHICH I AM REALLY LOATH TO DO NOW. AND GET IT OFF THE SHELL? HELP!!!!!.

Caps lock is not your friend in this situation. It seems like you are screaming, and that will make people avoid your thread.

As for the question, leave the chick alone. If you open that incubator, you will be risking the lives of all the others that are hatching right now. It should dry up and fall off soon.

Forgot to thank you.Sorry! Was paniced.. first bunch of chicks.
That one was ok ...didnt know they do have a little string hang for a few minutes sometimes.
Now... i have one with a LOT of yolk or some white with a tinge of yellow goo on it.Same thing bigger It took 13 hours after pip and wasnt trying any more. or peeping .so i picked off the shell around the egg last night ( not the membrane) kept it damp and loosely wrapped in a damp wash rag this morning he was ready to come out,did but now has this goo hanging.Poor guy
..Havent gone back in to look. I have another clutch supposed to hatch today and as you said ...let nature take its course for himI guess.. See how it goes..
Thanks for the help

I don't help unless it's been pipped for more then 24-36 hours, and only then if it looks like it is struggling. If it still has yolk attached, it was probably not ready to come out just yet. The yolk is usually completely absorbed before they start zipping, which is probably why it hadn't started yet.

Hope they do okay! Good luck!

I have had several come out that looked very wet and when they dried the fuzz was not fluffy just stuck together. I ended up taking them into the bathroom and getting the water nice and warm but not hot and held them so the water ran over them and cleaned off the goo. It seems like they really liked it. the warmth made them feel good. I think the dried goo was pulling on the fuzz and making them uncomfortable.

I have one chick that is like that now, but I'm afraid to wash it. I don't want it to get a chill. :S It's a week old on Wednesday and still is not fluffy.
