I have a 3 week Mallard who is not walking much and falls over on its side. I had to help her up a few times. I read lack of niacin can cause this. Where can I buy brewers yeast? A drug store? What brand should I get? There is no tack and feed store near by...

You're right about the niacin, and I think you could find yeast at a drug store. Any brand will work.

If it's not niacin, it could be something that happened to the bird's leg. Waterfowl have very weak leg bones and joints, so is it possible that something could have happened to injure it?

I've had good luck finding it at Vitamin Cottage, Whole Foods, Sprouts, or anywhere that sells "health food".

could she have injured her leg. or has it not developed correctly?

niacine could help but it sounds like a bit more to me

Def get Niacin. Also check for any signs of an injury. I had a 3 week old sprain her leg, she kept herself in their house (hung out in doorway so she could see everyone) for a few days and recovered just fine.

Thanks so much guys! Luckily there is a Sprouts near by!!

I rescued her when her Mom abandoned her about 2 weeks ago as well as her sibling. She was doing fine up until a few days ago.
I suspect I wasn't giving her enough in her diet. I have been feeding her Romaine Lettuce and Oatmeal this whole time.

I also read peas should help as well for naicin. (I was reluctant to give peas because I didn't want to cause angel wing from the protein like with my house Mallard - which we fixed).

I will admit that sometimes when I carry her out to clean her house she get's eager and jumps out of my hands but she may fall about 4 inches and lands on her feet. I will be super duper careful now and won't let her wiggle out of my hands.

What's the proper way to check injury? I don't want to put the poor thing in anymore pain. :-(

I will say she has been getting up to get food and water and snuggles with her sister when sleeping.

Just gently feel it, comparing both legs. You should get them on Flock Raiser or chick feed (adding niacin to feed)

Bad news, the second duckling that I have is having the same issue.
Now I suspect that it is not related to an injury.

Could there be a virus or sickness going on?
Or could it still be related to being vitamin deficient?

:-(
