HELP! Baby mouse! *Help no longer needed*

I raised a baby mouse that my cat brought in. The cat took off one leg so we called the little chap Trio and kept him til his death two years later.

We began by offering him slightly softer food like bread, oats, banana and shelled sunflower seeds etc and then moved on to a commercial mouse food. We also used to give him small pieces of fruit and veg and also the occasional mealworm.

We also de-bugged him. They can carry fleas n stuff so we used a tiny dusting of permethrin powder for kittens.

Ok. So I got it to eat a little baby food mixed with water. I have it in a glass jar (with cheese clothe so it can still breath) and pine shavings and Cotten balls for it to cuddle in. I have a heating pad under it set on medium. It looks very skinny.

It can pee (and maybe poop) on its own, and has the ability to open its eyes, but chooses not to a lot. How old do you guys think it is?

@A_Fowl_Guy Can you help? I know your thing says "Wildlife Biologist" but I don't know how much wildlife biologist interact like this with wildlife. Sorry if my sentences aren't makin sense, I'm just on the edge of panicking about this little guy
Thanks either way

Nice aren’t something we rescue. It looks to be a little older than 6 days old due to the size and fur. It will eat but I would switch to hamster food, cooked rice, or kitten food moistened with water. That will give the proper nutrients but regular baby food is acceptable as well. The pine shavings are a good bedding. You can get a little fish cave from a pet store so it can hide in. My little brother brought a nest home one day instead of leaving it so I had to take care of it. It’s a load of trial and error. It will be very independent at about 18 days old and will eat more. Good luck and keep me posted.

I have raised five pet mice. Yes, like @Tycine1 and @DuckWhisperer06 said a glass fish tank with a wire top works great. Like @A_Fowl_Guy said, once it gets a little older you should buy hamster/rat and mouse food at a pet store. Once it warms up to you you will be able to hold it and it will probably become quite personable. Be careful if you give it milk with a dropper. I had some baby mice that I rescued and I fed them milk with a dropper and ended up accidentally chocking them because the drops of milk were too large for them to swallow. It would be like if someone dumped a whole pint of milk in your moth and expected you to swallow it.
If you feed him/her milk, I would recommend letting them lick it off of your finger.
If you have not already, give the mouse a place where they can hide. Mice like small dark places to hide and keep warm in. It sounds like you are taking good care of him/her. Let us know if you have any more questions.

What kind of a mouse was it? Was it a field mouse or the common house mouse? I think the field mice are cute. I have thought that if I could rescue one from my cat that I would keep it for a pet.

He was a field mouse....cute as a button but pretty smelly! We loved him though and although he never became handleable, he took food from our hands and was happy t be out and about in his cage when we were around.

Thanks everyone for your help. The mouse died.

I'm so sorry the little guy didn't make it but well done for trying your best xxx
