We had a pair of ringnecks lay 3 eggs, 1 hatched and is aprox 9 weeks old now. Just today I noticed he was hoping around the bottom of our aviary and his parents were watching him. He is not really flying, just walking around looking at the grass and toys. He is now clinging on the wire mesh wall not far from his mum and dad :) so cute but im worried he will get cold tonight!
Should I put him back in the nesting box?

thanks

Yes, you should have put him back in. I hope you did. It is not true that a touched bird will be rejected by the parent birds. If a baby falls out of the nest, you can save it's life if you put him back in.

This is a pet bird it sounds like, but I would stick him back in the nest box at night. He may come back out and then you may have to set up a heat lamp to keep him warm. Sounds like he is fledging.
