Shes been trying all morning to push the sucker out. I can see it. but shes bleeding and heaving. I took her out of the coop because the other chickens started showing interest in it and didnt want it to get pecked. Shes in a tote with some straw, i lubed it up with vaseline and KY, shes still pushing, it seems huge. Should a bathe her??? I never had this happen.

I dont know what to do! Oh yea I gave her a bit of olive oil, i remember reading that somewhere.

Help please!!!

You can try putting her in a warm bath to help relax her muscles. You can also (very carefully) try to add some mineral oil or vaseline up there to help it slide out. Be careful though....if it breaks or she prolapses, then you have even more to try and take care of.

ok thanks, i did use a qtip and gently put vaseline around the egg inside. i gave her some straw so its more like her nest box and shes making a nest as we speak. hopefully she can get it out, it felt huuuge. there was some white gooy stuff coming out, but i dont think the egg broke? does anyone know what that is?

I just checked and can't see the egg anymore. Shes nice and relaxed so I dont want to disturb her any. How long before bath time, and how the heck do you make a chicken relax in the water?
