This is how the (now) roo looked when I got him 5 weeks ago. I am a fairly new chicken mommy. I've only been at this about 3 months

On the left is a cockerel. On the right is a pullet. The one on the left is not a pure Barred Rock, but has very clear male hackle feathers around the neck and visible male saddle feathers on the back.

She looks like a hen in the picture, didn't see the rooster tail feathers, if she does not lay eggs in two more months, have a avian veterinarian examine the sex of the chicken.
