HELP: Basically.. How do i hatch an egg??

I am going to hatch about a dozen chicken eggs and i need your help!
i am going to make my own incubator, based on others i have seen on BYC but i've never done it before. Is it true that u only incubate them for 18 days then move them to some other thing? and what is the writing for that's on the eggs? please, any info would help!

Hi! You stop turning them at 18 days! And the x's and o's on the eggs are for turning so you can keep track of when you've turned them.
