UPDATE! Well, the flock has calmed down & there is peace & harmony once again- thank goodness!!!!!!! Upon reading the more-experienced members replies & advice- I immediately stopped ALL treats and offered only their Organic Layer w/ some Starter/ Grower mixed in for extra protein. They have always had oyster shells available and I have kept that around. Not sure if the diet changes could have helped so quickly
In any case, I learned I was self-fulfilling my worst nightmare (the chickens fighting) by offering so many extras to their diets and messing with the delicate nutritional balance they need to be happy and healthy
My naughty bantum rooster Ivan has been on good mating behaviour, but I am keeping a close eye on him and am prepared to lock 'em up if he damages another hen.
Thanks to everyone for the support & wisdom during my time of need! You helped me turn around a situation that could have ended up much worse and I learned a lot.
