HELP! BLOODY ROOSTER!!!

i went out to put the chicken away and my roos points and blade were all bloody. The blood was all the way down his back to his tail. I went and got a flashlight and there were no animal tracks (snow) He must of caught it on something. There was blood splatered all over my white trim on my coop! I looked under the coop (its is raised off the ground for them to get under. He had draged his bloody comb all over under it. i dont know if he caught it on the OSB board or if i caught it on something else. What should i do? I belive you can put corn starch to stop bleeding. I dont have any chicken meds. Will he be ok? HELP!!

MOST of the time these type of injuries will stop bleeding. If you want tho....put some bakeing soda...flour..even sugar on it. (Honey works well too)I bet it will stop on its own tho. Maybe tomorrow, you can get under there and see what it might have gotten caught on..and fix it?

It should quit bleeding, but yes...honey is a good idea for it's healing properties...my only concern is would the other animals want to eat it? Do you have iodine? That works great.
He'll be ok...think of all the fights Roos get into.

I feel so bad there are trails all ove the place anywhere he could swipe his comb on. he has trails all over under the coop. Trails under the ramp, in the door way and blood al over the side of the coop from where he jumped on the step and it splatered. He lost A LOT of blood.

Check for nails that may have gone though the boards. If that is not it, look to see if a piece of wire is loose. That is the two most common causes of injuries like you described. Short of that you might of had a chicken fight. Yes, a hen can cause a lit of damage.
