I've had about 7 chicks hatch today and all but 2 have these large looking bloody things their butt area. Some of it is runny or oozy looking. Is this what's left of their yolk sack? Or should I be concerned that it's something else? I've hatched chicks before but none of them had this going on...sorry to be graphic but it almost looks like a set of bollocks on a few of them. Are they going to be okay? They are still somewhat wet looking from hatching out and quite a few of them are chirping away.

That is the remnants of their yolk sacs. They will be ok if you can get it dried up. The incubator is probably the best place for that, but make sure it doesn't catch on anything. I've had them snag on the metal incubator wire and then pull their guts out.

If you have that many I'd look at your temps....did they run high? If they hatch too quickly that can happen and for 5 out of 7 to have that issue I'd bet it has something to do with the incubating conditions.

Thank you so much for your posts. I'm a little bit more relieved and will be keeping my fingers crossed they will be fine by tomorrow.
