Hey! Sorry if I'm long winded but I really need some help! I'm new to the chicken life and so far loving it, but I need a little advice. I have 4 birds that were born the first week of April so aprox 12 weeks old and I think 2 of the may be male. The 4 were getting along great until 3 days ago I woke up to find one of them with the tail pecked off and pecked raw and bloody on the back and under wing area. (I have separated and cared for her and she is recovering great!) The other 3 remained in the coop area (seemed to be getting along great) and went into the coop at night like normal. The next morning I woke up and found a second chicken had been pecked not quite as bad as the first but still raw and bloody. (I did the same isolated her and treated her wounds and she also seems to be recovering fine as well) I left the last 2 chickens outside in the coop area for the day that evening they went into the coop like any other night but I stayed outside for a long while observing them from the yard just to see if anything would happen. I noticed the 2 kept having a staring contest getting close in each other's faces, feeling uneasy and not wanting to wake up to another pecked chicken I separated them as well. Both of these chickens have had an attitude problem the last few days with me and do not see to like being separated. So now I have 2 injured chickens in the "isolation hospitals" and the other 2 in separate "protection/timeout" coops. I don't know why this happened or if maybe the 2 un pecked birds are roosters?? What can I or do I need to do to have a happy coop!! Any input is appreciated!! I included 5 pics of each unpacked bird.
