I have 24 turkey eggs in my incubator and have never incubated before. I know, I'm an idiot. They are all fertile, I candled the day we put them in and I candle again earlier today (day 8). When should I see the veins? In a number of them I see a dark spot hanging out (not a blood ring, it looks like pics of a chick developing) but no veins. I saw on another thread that I may not see veins til day 10 because turkey shells are thicker. I'm trying NOT to candle ever day....it's hard though, I'm so nosy. Lol. I was hoping to get some advice.

i never candle until day 10. you can see some veins then on most eggs, sometimes on a real thick egg you wont see them. look for the dark mass, its way easier to see. throw away any that have a bloody and dark ring all the way around.

Thanks! That's kind of what I figured. I'm just paranoid b/c turkeys and their eggs are insanely expensive around here. Plus I think candling eggs is the niftiest thing ever. lol.
