HELP!!!!! Broken leg.

My barred rock rooster has broken his leg just under the joint. It was one of the first chickens raised on our farm, and we would'nt dream of putting the big boy down unless theirs no other options. Thought of putting a splint on the leg but not sure how.

Any help would be very useful.

I had a hen break her leg... She hobbled around and looked very uncomfortable for a couple of days, but it eventually healed on it's own...

I never thought to splint it...

Split it with popsickle stick and take horse wrap that sticks to it self nice and snug not real tight and he should be fine just make sure the bone lines up,I've done this with 2 birds and they are fine could'nt tell you which ones they are now and good luck he should heal right up

he'll be ok restrist his activity for a few days and keep him wraped for about 2 weeks good as new

I had a RIR break a leg, but she also healed from it and walked with a limp. If you are really worried, try taking him to a vet. How did he break it?

Im not sure how he broke his leg but when I found him he was in the goat pen thought maybe one of them stepped on his leg. Will splint it tonight and put him in a small cage to limit mobility.
