Hi all,

I have searched the threads but can not find exactly what I am in need of an answer. Yesterday we got our order of an assortment, this did not have ducks but when I stopped at the farm store they had ducklings. Grabbed 3 ducklings and tonight I find that our only duck that survived the fox this winter is now broody. Should I try to slip the ducklings under her tonight? I am not sure of the age, at our farm store they do not last more than a few so I would guess a few days old at best. We have never tried this but thought it might be worth the chance. Thanks!!!

If she has only been broody a short time it probably won't work. Ducks aren't as apt to accept ducklings as chickens are chicks, plus theres always the possibility the duckling won't accept her either, if you decide to try, put you hand over top of the ducklings one at a time slip them under and remove any eggs, and stick close in case she attacks. or ducklings won't stay under her and can chill. It may take a while to determine everything will be okay.
