I have a chick in egg still alive piped but there are still blood vessels. Broody was off nest with the others. Egg/chick real cold. I returned the incubator I had so all I have is a heat light and a styrofoam cooler. Should I help more or wait until it warms up.. I was getting ready to do a eggtopsy when I discovered it was alive. There was one more which I cant tell if it is still alive or passed but full size so put under light also.

Warm them up - monitoring to assure that temperature is not too high. Gradual warming is fine. Once hatched and dried off they may be returned to the hen in the evening. Good luck.
Thanks. Moving and chirping now. I now have for sure movement in the second egg which hasn't piped yet.. I am glad I got them in time

It is lucky that you found them - the partially-opened egg is close to hatch...but still needs time for the blood vessels recede (and possibly absorb yolk, too). You may also want to put some coconut oil on the outer membrane to prevent shrink wrapping (avoid the beak/nostril area), especially if the humidity isn't controlled, and hopefully the little one will finish the rest of the hatching process unassisted.

Best of luck! :jumpy

Update: the one seems fine just finishing absorbing everything and resting. I have removed some more shell and membrane was tight around it so i slowly the past few hours removed enough that it will be able to finish when it’s ready. No bleeding which is a good sign.

The other egg/chick has internally piped and almost has the external pip through. I am glad I check on them when I got home. Other wise these two would have went to the the big coop in the sky.

I am sure I won’t sleep much tonight for checking and making sure the temp is ok and that they are doing ok. That’s the bad thing about hatching you have to have patience and when it comes to these cute little one it soooooooooo. Hard. And this hatch was supposed to be hassle free, let mama do all the work....

When I check this morning the second one hadn’t made any progress. Looking inside the pip hole the membrane was dry(due to not being able to keep the humidity up high enough I guess.). Knowing I will be leaving soon for work I assisted with removing top part of shell and some of the membrane. Once I removed some of them the little one started pushing. I almost dropped the baby because it wanted out. Everything was absorbed and now it has to dry off.

Both little ones will be back with mama by tonight.. yay
