I need help! My Black Sex Link is acting strange....I let her out of the coop and she has just been laying under this tree for awhile...when I left to get my kids from the bus stop we came back and she wasn't with the flock, fearing the worst we went looking for her everywhere, she turned up eventually and was just standing under our deck tail down and was very easy to catch, which in itself is unusual, she's usually very fiesty...

After checking her out from head to toe not seeing any physical damages I sat her on the ground and she slowly walked under another tree and laid down and that's where she's at right now...not eating or anything, just laying there??

I'm not sure if she laid today, I only got 3 out of 5 possible eggs this morning..

Thanks!!

WORRIED!!

Feel her vent area and down between the vent and keel bone. Feel for any stuck eggs. Has she lost any weight? When was she last wormed? How is her color on comb and face? I'd at the very least start her on some vitamins and put her away from the others, in a nice warm spot. Make sure she is eating and drinking, scramble up some eggs to give to her for added strength.

Thank you..

She hasn't been wormed at all.....She's always been on medicated feed. What type of wormer do you recommend? So far I'm pretty sure they don't have worms, I've kept a close eye on that...

I did feel around and didn't feel anything like an egg being stuck...

Her comb and waddle are still bright red and the same....

She has not lost any weight.....

OMGosh! Your in Middleburg? I just noticed that, your like 15 minutes from me...my inlaws live in Lake Ausbury!! SMALL WORLD!!

Is there any chance she got into anything toxic? If not, I'd get some Wazine wormer and dose her with that. See if that helps. Even on medicated feed they get worms. It is just a preventive, here in Fl the soil is ripe for growing all kinds of stuff and medicated feed just doesn't cut it. Every 6 months I worm with Ivomectrin, then again in 6 moths I worm with Safeguard and in between I use Wazine and Poultry dust, DE etc. I have a lot of birds so worming is important. Ivomectrin also kills lice and mites that live on the birds. Ivomec & Safeguard have a 30 day wait on eating eggs after dosing birds, Wazine I'd wait a week. Ivomec Exprix (sp) has Less.
