Hey all,I have 2 broody hens with there chix, just hatched the past few days. They are in the hen house, 6 X 8 ft, there are other hens, large attached run, but the big chickens are making a huge mess of the waterer and small feeders. I have pine/spruce shavings in the building as bedding.
Anybody go any ideas?
I have for the 1st few days been giving the chicks, starter feed made wet with water a few times per day, tried to place small water dishes and chick feeders in there nest areas, but they are getting kicked full of shavings.
I am worried these chicks won't get enough to eat and especially enough drinking water. I am keeping most of the adults in the run all day, that will help too.
I am thinking of making an elevated platform for the waterer and feeder,to keep it just above the shavings, with a little ramp for the chicks, would that work?
Looking for some good ideas, before these little ones dehydrate or don't get enough to eat..
