I have a pipped egg that has cried not stop. It pipped yesterday and the chick just keeps crying. Should I try and help it or is it doomed?

I don't know the whole story, is there just 1 egg involved? Did you have others hatch and they are all still in the incubator?
If the chick can not break out all by it's self, chances are it was not meant to be.

I've hatched 7 chicks so far. I don't think this one is ready to hatch. I removed a little of the shell and there is still blood there. So I wraped the egg in a wet cloth and put it back. It's stll crying.

It was not ready to hatch if there is blood. Chicks usually do peep in the shells it's natural.

No this one is not just peeping it's crying non-stop and has now for hours.

I've hatched a lot of chicks and never had one do this.

So sorry for your upsetting situation. When was the last time you tried to chip away a little more o the shell? You're doing right to stop when you see any fresh blood. I would do just as you said and keep it nestled in a warm, wet cloth. You're certain that your temps are still good in the incubator?

The chick finally hatched. I'm waiting to see if it ok. So far it looks all right. When it drys I'll get a better look at it. It's still crying non-stop.

Hey Marsha - hows the chick now?

How many quail did you hatch last week?

The chick seems to be ok. I took it out of the hatcher this morning and put it in with the others. It has stop crying at last. Maybe it just wanted out of the egg.
