I have a chick that started pipping 2 mornings ago and only has a tiny hole big enough to get air thru. I'm afraid it may not be able to finish hatching. Could someone help me with whether to help it finish breaking the shell? I don't know if and how I should do this. Or if it's best not to help. I don't want to lose another chick, so if I can help it I'd like tro try.
Any advice and help with this would be appreciated.

It's honastly best NOT to help. If the chick can't hatch on

it's own, it's likely because it has some sort of problem. Then your

stuck with the decision of culling. It's also very dangerous helping

chicks hatch. It's amazingly easy to break a blood vein, & the chick

will bleed to death. I've helped a couple hatch. I've had mixed results,

but this last one, turned out terrible. It made me think : If the chick

can't hatch on it's own, maybe it's just not meant to be. So sorry your

going through this

Thank you ScissorChick, I felt it best to ask than to try doing it before knowing I harmed the chick.
The other 2 that both started pipping a few hours after the one that stopped have already completely hatch. Maybe them being out will encourage it to continue.

How long should I wait before pulling the egg out of the bator?

could the mebrane have dried out (seeing as it first pipped 2 mornings ago) meaning the chick will be 'stuck' in the membrane. try wrapping a wet paper towel around the egg (not around the hole) and see if that may help re moisten the membrane giving the chick a chance to get out.

The chick is still cheeping but only that 1 pip hole is in the egg.
I loosely wrapped a moist papertowel around the egg and set it back in the bator. Hopefully that will help the chicky out.
I think I'll name it Slowpoke for taking it's time hatching.

Would it hurt to lightly tap on the egg around the pip hole to help the chick finish breaking out? It keeps poking it's beak out thru the hole but it just isn't breaking out.
What do you think?

I lost 2 of the 3 chicks that hatched. They had such a hard time getting out of the egg, they just didn't have the strength to survive.

The 1 hatchling is doing fine, lonely but fine.
The wind is so intense at this point I can't even attempt to take it out with it's other siblings.
I still have 7 Mille Fleur eggs waiting to hatch hopefully soon, and hope they do ok.

More updates soon I hope,
