First time hatching on my own. We did it when I was a kid but I don't remember specifics, just thought it neat. Anyways...

This little guy/gal poked through, zipped and busted out in what I would say was an hour. Zipping to out was like 10~ minutes. Is the white/yellow on them of concern or normal? Our first hatchling came out without us knowing and didn't appear to have any of this residue.

That's normal. Just a little goop from inside the egg. If it doesn't come of on its own just pull it off when they come out of the incubator.

Thanks! It was exciting, my 3 yr old actually got to see it zip and hatch and was so enthralled. I was very hopeful the chick would be fine since heshe is mobile in their 'omg what is going on!' Way.
