This morning I went to check on my two broody hens who had some of their eggs start to pip the egg shell yesterday and so I went to check on them. To my horror one of all the eggs had hatched but was dead. Half it’s body was under the mom whilst the other half was exposed outside. The chick looked like it had barely came out since it was still wet looking not fluffy. What happened? Was it the temperature, it had dropped to the 30 last night? Was it the Mother herself? Or was it just a weak chick? This mother has never killed a chick but idk could be. Please respond with possible answers. Thanks
