i just got my chick order in from mcmurray hatchery and the extra chick they sent me has a messed up neck its flopped over to the side and when i pick him up it goes all the way around. hes eating fine and drinking water and walking and the other chicks seem to be accepting him i just dont know what to do to help his neck!

I had a week old gold sex link chick that survived a dog attack with her neck kind of off center and hanging down. She would eat and drink too without any problems, just had a floppy neck. I left her alone and she is now 9 weeks old and you can’t tell she had any problems, other than her left eye doesn’t open all the way. I think she may either be blind or have partial sight in that eye. Her name is “Crooked Neck” and she is one of my friendliest birds.

Hopefully someone else with more experience will come along and help you out. Good Luck!

Can be a vitamin deficiency. Try adding some poly-vi-sol no iron baby vitamins to her water.
A little additional protien could be helpful, scramble egg, but in teenie smashed up bits since she is so young. I would try to vitamins first though.
Good luck!

Poly-Vi-Sol is a liquid baby vitamin/supplement made by Enfamil. It's usually sold wherever baby products are sold. Gerber also makes the idential thing and theirs is simply called baby vitamins (or something similar). It is great for treating vitamin deficiencies and weak chicks. Wry neck; limp neck; crook neck - are mostly related to vitamin deficiency and Poly-Vi-Sol, along with one Vitamin E gel capsule a day really helps. Cut the tip off the capsule and squeeze out for the chick to eat.

Give a couple of drops in front lower beak - one at a time - till it swallows. Do not force it down its throat or you could drown it. You can also put several drops in a small shallow dish of water for it to drink.
