Hope everything goes well for your new hatching!
I have a question for any one out there that may know...we are new at this with our first hatch, 5 yesterday on day 20 and 2 more have poked a hole in their shell and chirping.
My question goes back to a chick yesterday,.... I hope it is a she, so she was stuck 1/3 in her shell after hours and getting weaker. I assisted and freed her up just a bit by cracking the shell just a wee bit. Perhaps I should not have done this, the shell after she got out stuck to her wing /back a tiny piece. Our humidity is running around a low of 66% to maybe 70% after i re-up the water in the incubator...any way she is doing fine on day two, we moistened the shell last night and carfully removed it...today I noticed no feathers in this area and her skin a little irritated, maybe just a little red as well. All the chicks are in the brooder as of last night eating and drinking...
Should I rub something on it to re-moisture the skin, any ideas?
