I posted earlier and no one has answered..so I'm posting again with larger headline.

I have a Americauna mix chick thats a couple days old.It is bending it's head back onto it's back and falling over. It's peeping constantly.
It can't seem to sit up right and is always on it's back, head bent and legs kicking.
I've removed it from mom and other chicks to keep it warm.
I thought it might be wryneck looking at other posts, but it is not a silkie and it bends backwards, not forwards or to the side. And, it is only a couple days old.I'm trying to feed to some chick food I've added with water thru an eye dropper. It twitches and thrashes when I do this, but I know it probably hasn't been eating in the coop with mom.

Does this sound like wryneck or is it something else??

Help help!!
Thanks.

I am not sure what it is called, but I can tell you from experiance there is little that can be done. Unless someone out there has any other info, I have found that every chick I have that does this does not survive. I am truely sorry. I too have tried to nurse them back to health, force feeding and propping them up in a more natural position, but to no avail. It has happened in different pure breed and mixed breed chicks over the years, and all the questions of vets and other poultry owners have not shed any light on the subject. Untill your post I was beginning to think it may be a problem with my property, but now I can see it is just one of those things. Maybe just natures way to cull out the weak and flawed. Mine always seemed like they could not swallow right, like there was something wrong with their digestive system up high. Either way, I am sorry for your little ones difficulty. You may try to give it diluted multivit drops like poly-sol, I have had them last a bit longer with that, but again have never had one recover. My sympathies again and hopefully someone else on here can offer better advice. I will be watching for others answers.

Try doing a search on wry neck. I think that is what it is called. Hope this helps!
