My friend and i have a millie fluer chick, who is about 1 month, and weve had had for about a week. Her legs are curled in and her feet are all mangled. Feathers are growing out of the bottom of her feet/ the part where shes walking on and they are red. Her walking is not too bad, she drags her feet and will not be able to roost but other than that she can walk ok. Does anyone have advise? Or has anyone also had the same thing happen to one of there chicks?? please help!

I had a duccle with a leg problem as well. She never had feathers grow out from underneath her feet, but duccles do have leg feathers. I got my hen as a chick for free from the feedstore because of her leg problems. I made her as comfortable as I could throughout her short life and she turned into the best, sweetest little chicken. Here is a thread with pictures of her: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...es-of-negu-new-update-7-6-pg-5-pictures-added

The main thing is keeping them comfortable, soft bedding, food and water low and within their reach. My girl also enjoyed sitting on top of a flat board and watching the other chickens. Almost like her own entertainment.

She also enjoyed going swimming in a small tub (very, very supervised of course). She used this as if her own physical therapy and would pump her leg in the water. I bathed her every couple weeks with baby shampoo because poop tends to get stuck on feathers.

You will learn as you go what your individual bird likes and what makes her more comfortable. Hardboiled eggs are also a good treat for special needs chickens. My girl loved them. Gives them an extra boost too.

Good Luck with her. Special needs critters are tough little things.
