I would really appreciate some help with this. Yesterday, my family's chickens were attacked by a coyote, and 5 out of the 7 were killed, my family is devastated. One of the chickens that survived appeared fine at the time, but hasn't been able to walk around. She can't put any weight on her right leg, and the toes are curled under her. She is awake and responsive, and will drink water but won't really eat. I crushed an aspirin in some water and gave her a couple tablespoons, along with some humming bird food (basically sugar and water). I think her leg is broken, what should I do? Thanks for any help!

I would definitely take her to a vet, if that is at all possible. If not, the only thing I could think of to do is get two pop sickle sticks, and make some sort of splint and wrap it really well and see if that can help her walk. May not grow back together properly.

I've read several times on here that the best thing is to wrap the leg with vet wrap as a splint. The bones need to be held still so they can heal. She may not walk normally, of course. And watch the foot for circulation as the vet wrap can shrink a bit and cut it off. I've never done this, just passing along what I've read.

Thank you so much for your suggestions... if it happens to be the hip should i wrap it the same way?
