So yesterday late afternoon a fox attacked my chickens. It ended up getting one ( or so we thought). I saw the fox carry off my chicken so me and my neighbors dog chased it off. My dad and I went to the l went to the farm store near us to get a chick to replace the hen we just lost. When I got home the hen that the fox grabbed was back hanging out with the rest of the flock again. The fox must have dropped her, before he could kill her, when the neighbors dog and I were chasing it. Well now my hen has 2 puncture wounds, one under each wing. One puncture looks like it was just the skin I could see meat but it wasn’t torn. The other side I could see yellow fatty tissue. But the crazy thing is there is no blood. What can I do to get those wounds healed up and possibly save her, she survived the initial attack it would be heartbreaking if we lost her due to the aftermath. I will post pictures of the wounds in the morning. Any advice would be so appreciated.

You're likely contending with puncture wounds which can be sneaky and more difficult to find. How is her demeanor? Otherwise, if everything is superficial penny has the right idea. Just keep her and the others from pecking at her.

I’ve found the puncture wounds she has 2 under her wings. One on each side. When I saw that she was back in the flock she was acting like a normal chicken, eating and drinking. She was even roosting with the others when I locked the coop up. But we shall see how she is when I check on her in a few hours.

These are both of her wounds. She was also acting like nothing happened to her. But I know that with chickens they hide illness very well.

All of her holes and scratches are scabbed over, she is still eating and drinking great. I’m still keeping a close eye on her though, just to make sure she isn’t getting any kind of infections right anything.
