I came onto the site today, because I wondered if I may have to (CULL) my Roos.
A couple of days ago I had all 4 of my RIR attacked by a Springer Spaniel. Never seen this dog in the neighborhood before. anyways, 2 of them where pretty seriouusly injured (so I thought) untill seeing you baby. They had actually dissapeared for 2 days before returning to the yard. I have one, which is my fave (My Wattles) he was safe and only lost a few of his beautiful long tail feathers, I was soooooo happy. Two of the others where pretty bad, had bald spots near there tail end, NO TAIL feathers, and a pretty good size gash on each of their tail ends. They are all eating and drinking just fine now...like nothing ever happened. One of them has not returned and may be .......
you know.
I put my "Wattles" back in with the girls to be safe. .. nothing can get in with our hens ... The other boys are jealous but seem happy and content to be alive and it is good to hear their crowing again!! The first day after the attack... no one crowed .. I think they where scared to draw attention. This morning it was crowing as per usual ~~~~~ What a beautiful sound. Never thought I could love a chicken soooooo much!
Is it necassery that I may need to put something on their wounds? Perioxide, etc????
