Hello, I’m asking for help about three days ago. I saw my chicken limping. She’s about a year old Easter egger she was hopping around in one leg me and my husband grabbed her. We examined her saw that she had inflammation on the bottom of her leg, there were a bump there, we don’t know what happened. We don’t have any predators never had any attacks anyways I separated her put her in a crate. She’s inside my house. She’s not eating much. I feel that she’s in pain. I gave her baby aspirin which it helped she picked a little bit of the food I made her scrambled egg gave her vitamins. She has water and food in the crate , I don’t have any pictures because I don’t want to stress her out her leg looks like it’s broken. She’s holding it up to her body tucked away. She’s not using it a few times that I go up to the crate. I try to get her up to check her out she wobbles and falls , my husband and I are putting splint on her leg to see if that helps. I have no doctors that treat birds around me ((question would she heal from this? Will she have to be euthanize? Has anybody had an experience with a chicken with a broken leg thank you in advance.
The fracture is on the metatarsal part of her leg above her ankle..don’t know that that part is called. It’s normal in color, a little swelling my worry is that she is not moving it at all, or putting weight on it, she looks down and is not eating much.
