HELP! My chicken (Patty) has been experiencing some strange symptoms lately. For reference she’s roughly 20 weeks old. I’m not exactly sure what’s happening, first time chicken mom here.
Yesterday she started standing weird like this (picture) with her chest out and neck tucked into her, she’s had very watery poops in small amounts, her vent looks clean and good. She gets clean water everyday, and layer feed from Cluck & Co. She seems to be eating and drinking fine, doesn’t really waddle just stands with her head tucked and chest out, acting a little out of the norm, walking slower, not really caring for what’s around her. We gave her an epsom salt bath for about 30 min today doesn’t seem to have really improved much. ANY info helps and would be appreciated !! Also don’t mind the coop it’s a mess because we are rearranging and fixing things currently.

How does her crop feel—empty, full, firm, doughy, puffy/squishy? Could she be egg bound? I would give her a human calcium citrate with D tablet orally, or a Tums that is cut in two pieces to swallow. Do you have any pictures of her droppings?

Crop feels like it might have something there, her droppings are mostly water with small amounts of brown/white.

That looks very similar to my hen being egg bound. You need to give her calcium pill right away. Does her belly feel swollen? Sometimes, water belly cause this problem too.

Your hen definitely doesn’t look right. If you have access to a veterinarian, I’d get her there right away. She does seem like she might be egg bound or have some other reproductive problem as opposed to an upper respiratory infection. It would not hurt her at all to have a human TUMS. They are mostly calcium. You can give her a warm epsom salt bath, just don’t let her drink the water; it’s a laxative. If she is egg bound be very gentle with her, breaking the egg inside her would be very dangerous. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I gave her a warm Epsom salt bath, and it doesn't seem like shes having a problem with an egg, I am thinking sour crop?

I have isolated her, given an Epsom salt bath and no food and water because i suspected sour crop, overnight she has been looking better, the swelling is going down, and she is pooping actual brown consistency now instead of jsut water.
