I have a chicken that has pipped the egg and has his beak poking out and he is chirping very loudly. I am wondering if he is asking for help. Anyone else have this problem This egg had a tilted air cell that was more on the side of the egg than the fat end. Can this chicken zip the egg if the air cell is on the side?

My turkey hatched out of an egg with the air cell incorrectly placed in the shell. He pipped and hatched perfectly fine, however, his wing is malformed from this I believe. Keep us updated on your little chick. Best of luck!

I would give him some time. I have assisted a few chicks I thought were stuck and in every case they had not finished absorbing the yolk sac....they all made it but I probably in hindsight should have waited a little longer.

If it can breath, and it can make noise and sounds strong give it some time. Mine usually take 4 to 12 hours to zip after pipping.

I took the egg out to help the chicken and his beak was stuck out of the pipped hole abnormally far. I used a fishing hook to help chip the shell a little bit but then i got a little blood so i put him back in the incubator and let it take its course. The chicken hatched healthy and he is fine. The abnormal air cell was no problem he still zipped the shell it was just at an angle. Anyway I got the chick to get his beak back inside of the pipped hole and he stopped screaming and hatched just fine. This chick took 22 hours to hatch after the first pip.

I assisted my last one as he pipped and shell cracked but just couldn't manage it ...so I gently put a tiny split in yheegg where beak was he woukd do a bit more but coukd tell weaking ....when he did push out it was more of an exhausted flop....got aclub foot but doesn't seem to be hindering him

That is really interesting. It is great that he hatched perfectly fine! I'm glad that you posted this. Hopefully it will help others later on.
