You found a bite wound? I'm so sorry for your loss.
Can you post a pic of the bite? We might be able to help figure out what it was.
Can you also post a pic of your coop setup? Weasles can get through any hole you can stick your finger though. I think if it was a Weasel, you would have found her, and the rest of the birds dead. They are killers.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. You did everything you could for her.

thank you, I would have gotten a picture of my chicken but I had to get rid of her since she died. I will send a picture of my coop.

Sorry for your loss. It could be almost anything, from gapeworms, a respiratory infection, or an impacted crop. Can you inspect her body for any mites or lice? Is there any place that you could get a necropsy there in Hawaii?

I have never had anything like this happen, or heard of anything happening. It was weird because the chicken wouldn't have been able to live if it was bitten 3 days before it died right? Because it stopped laying eggs three days ago and just today I saw it gasping for air. Then it felt thin today when I felt in. I looked at the side of its stomach and saw small black bumps covering its skin on that one side and didn't even happen to look on the underside of its belly to see the hole. it looked like something took a bite out of it and it wasn't very deep nor big. Probably about an inch across. But thank you all so much for helping!
