HELP! Chicken with bent middle toe!!

Hello Chicken Lovers,
My darling Rhode Island Red's middle toe is super bent, nearly 90 degrees. I've been advised to straighten the toe and make a split from surgical tape and something hard. I've quarantined her and we're about to splint her tonight. Any advice on how long I should keep her in the split? I'll change the bandage every few days to keep it clean.

I would assume that the toe is broken since it's bent sideways. There's no way to know how long you would need to keep the splint on. If she is an adult it will take longer to "mend" than a young chick, so give her a week or so then see how it goes. If you have vet care that would be best.
