I FOUND MY DAUGHTER TODAY CRYING AND HOLDING ONE OF OUR CHICKENS OUTSIDE OF THE PEN 2 HAD GOTTEN OUT AND ONLY ONE SURVIVED THE NEIGHBORS DOG, THE HEN CANT WALK ON LEFT LEG THERE IS NO OTHER INJURIES THAT I CAN SEE, NO PUNCTURES, CAN I MAKE A BRACE WITH POPCICLE STICKS AND TAPE FOR HER? I BROUGHT HER INSIDE FOR THE NIGHT AND PUT HER IN A DOG CARRIER WITH HAY AND FOOD AND WATER, AND COVERED IT WITH A THROW BLANKET SO SHE WONT GET A CHILL , I AM NEW AT RAISING CHICKENS AND HAVE LOST A FEW SO FAR WHICH IS FRUSTRATING RAISING FROM CHICKS, AND THEN LOSING THEM, HOW LONG DOES A LEG TAKE TOO HEAL USUALLY? AND HOW LONG BEFORE RETURNING TO COOP? WE HAVE 24 CHICKENS LEFT NOW AND I AM WORRIED PUTTING HER IN THERE WITH OTHERS THEY MIGHT ABUSE HER FOR BEING DIFFERENT IS THAT TRUE? THANKS FOR ANY HELP GIVEN ON THIS, AND GOD BLESS U AND YOURS,

Yes, it is true that the others will probably peck at her so I would keep her seperated from them until she is healed. I think the popcycle splint sounds like a good idea. Do you see any bloody spots at all? If so , you'll probably need to get an antibiotic ointment on there. I hope someone who knows more will come to help soon.

Good luck!
