Help chickens beaks are peeling!

Hi everyone. Here's my problem. I have at least two chickens that seem to have layers of their beaks peeling off. In my first hen it was in the top of the beak and the top is now a bit shorter then the bottom, but luckily it seems to have stopped. The second one is a rooster and the same thing is happening on the underside of his beak.

I really need help so I can stop this from happining in the future.

Give them some bird vitamins and rub some olive oil on the beaks but dont get it in their nostrils. What do they eat?

Thanks for the advice and sorry I took so long to reply. My chickens eat lay ration pellets along with the occasional table scraps. They also free range for most of the year so they eat a wide variety of things out there.
