I would not use that to deter the chickens from the dog poo. It does not work for most dogs and chickens being different yet, it could harm them or the eggs. You will have to pick up dog poo where the dog goes to prevent problem.

my wife thought i was going even more mad than usual but our chickens are definitely eating dog poo especially since we bought 4 new Isa Browns, i have no answers at this stage as we are in town and our chooks have a free run of the yardIt bothered me a little bit when one of our Boston Terriers was caught eating chicken poo, but I'm much more troubled to see my laying hens eating dog poo. I haven't noticed any difference in the eggs, but just the thought bothers me a little and really irks my wife.
I've heard either problem can indicate a shortage of protein in the diet, but they just started this obnoxious behavior with no change in diet. The dogs have always been poo eaters. With the weather being so cold lately, the puppy poo patrol has been put off. We never bother with hen poo patrol because they do most of their business in the coup while roosting. I just compost the hay when I clean the coup.
I would welcome ALL ideas to make my hens stop eating poo. Please help.
