Help! Chicks gaping/yawning with neck outstretched

I've noticed that my almost 3 week old chicks occasionally stretch their neck with their mouths open, then close them and shake their heads. what is this? They seem to be their normal, loud selves otherwise. This isn't normal, is it?

I was hoping this was the case. Sorry, complete newbie here! Is it normal for them to do it 2-3 times in a row while they're being held?

Their crop is on the base of their neck and wraps to the side a little , when you hold them, it presses the crop.

Probably just excited unless they've eaten something large
