I bought 12 chicks from the feed store on 3/9. Everything was going well, until today. We had some high wind and they got soaked. I have them in a brooder cage inside the coop. They are safe from predators and the other chickens. The roof over them was blown off and the heat lamp was knocked off. They were soaked.

I brought them in and dried them off with a blow dryer. They are now in a box with a heat lamp, warm water and food. Some of them are panting heavy. Any idea what this is or what more I need to do? Thanks for the help in advance.

If they are panting, they are probably too hot. Do they have a way to get away from the light so they can cool down? Are the all spread out around the brooder?

If they are dry now, I wouldn't worry too much. I have a few that LOVE to play in water and get all soaked, but dry off eventually. Just keep an eye on them.
