help choosing a breed

I have heard geese are good to protect a flock, and i have also heard geese are mean- so is there a calm, tame breed for a backyard flock?

I have heard that the Pilgrim goose is a very nice goose the male and the female!

Protect a flock of what? and from what? I think those are important questions! Geese are easily taken down by many predators and they can also be rough on other animals, not always, but sometimes, especially during breeding season or if confined to closely with them. If free ranging, they are a little better. Mostly it depends on the individual goose.
