Help! Cochins or Brahmas?

Since my little Brahmas have caused quite a difference in opinions, any suggestions on a unique name? I have kept one for myself, and passed the other four on to a lady who wanted in on my order. She only wanted LB's. She almost didnt take them because she didnt believe they were"Lights", I would have gladly kept them all, but their little faces won her over, and she took all four, but still didnt believe me. Here is their photo again w/ my blue cochins yesterday(2 days old)...Thanks again for all your help!!

Those are not dark brahma chicks. They are lights. Did you see my pic of what a dark brahma chick looks like? The darks look completely different from the lights and buffs. The darks are also the only ones of the three that can be sexed by color at just a few weeks old. The dark brahma males feather out in a totally different way than the females do. Brahmas are all I have. Trust me, I know.
ETA: In this case I agree with KinderKorner. McMurray must have some poor color quality light brahmas.

lets take a vote i will post the three chick pics (light, dark, buff) from mcmurray, and we can all look at them and vote.

due to the more recent pics, i think that they are light brahmas.

LOL- now looking at MM photos of the chicks vs new chick photos I'm saying Buff. Definately have to say not light yet the darks at MM photo look too dark compared to the new chick photos. Sorry-no help here *grin/shrug*

When McMurray takes those pics, you can be sure they pick the best representation of the breed color they have available.
This is a buff brahma chick at 3 days old:

The buffs have more of an all-over buff coloration to them from the start. The darks look completely different from the lights and buffs, almost as if they were a different breed altogether. Gitlost's chicks are light brahmas. I'd bet money on it.

like someone else said, they get both colors from their SQ birds. maybe some hatcheries have made it that the chicks can be sexed by color and others have been doing it by vent sexing. Cackle sent me last year 11 chicks that were all yellow, but when i checked their site this year i noticed that their pic had chicks that were like the OP pic with the gray/black with yellow fluff.

my 2 girls i kept are certainly LF light brahmas but they came out of yellow chicks!

I can say this, the OPs birds look exactly like the Light Brahmas I bought and raised for years. I got mine from both McMurray AND Ideal. Both were awful representations of their breed.

The pure yellow chick throws me. Never, have I ever seen one of my Light Brahmas ever hatch out pure yellow. Mind you I stopped raising pure Brahmas years ago, but it still throws me for a loop.
