HELP! Cockatiel escaped from his cage outside!!!!

Quote:
Thanks! I've been on the computer to post updates, and then I go back outside and play the Pepsi Song a couple times to listen for an answer, and I look around a bit with the binoculars. If there's no sign of him, I come back in for a bit to cool off and then go back out, etc etc etc.

I'm going to go take Moss back outside and play some video clips of cockatiels singing again. Once it gets a little cooler and later today, I will bring Moss and the Cage down to the woods and follow your instructions to try and get him back.

What's hard is that Brady has learned from inside experience(inside the house when he has gotten out) that the towel means "capture"(which he hates). The moment it gets near him, he takes off. It's hard because this is literally like catching a wild bird; except we have the advantage of having Moss.
Wish me luck!

Good luck!

Yea we have sparrow hawks around here that circle around in the sky that I worry about. But 1, like Emzyyy said, it's illegal and 2, I wouldn't want to hurt a beautiful hawk that is just trying to survive. I don't want a hawk to get him but I would hate to kill a hawk.

Apparently my younger sister claims she saw Brady in a tree up the road and he flew across the street and onto a road nearby. So now he's in the trees on another road!

UPDATE: Still no sign of Brady.

We went up the road with Moss in his cage and we heard him answering back from a distant. Then, we came back and started to play the youtube videos of the Pepsi Song and cockatiel songs. We could hear him fairly close, and Moss started calling to him and he got closer and closer. But then he sounded further and before we knew it we could just barely hear him.

Right now we have Cockatiel sounds playing from a speaker turned all the way up and it sounds like he's getting closer!

It's starting to get a little dark out and we really hope he makes it back in time.

UPDATE:

Brady never came back before dark. I think he decided to find a place to sleep in the trees. I still had hope that he would make it, until my younger sister said she was sitting on her bed and she heard screaming noises that sounded like Brady.

We think that he either had a night fright(which is when it's dark and if something like a dog walks by their cage or makes a loud noise they start to freak out...since they can't really see in the dark) or an owl got him. We're all pretty sure it was an owl.

Our poor little Brady is gone.

Moss seems really lonely. Last night he kept calling to him, but Brady didn't answer. He's sitting on my shoulder right now, acting normal, but I think he was confused before he went to bed and when he woke up because Brady still wasn't back.

We found an ad for a young cinnamon pearl white-face Cockatiel, for a small rehoming fee, and it's pretty close to us, but my mom said that the solution isn't to replace Brady with another bird. I know that, but what about Moss? He's lived with at least another bird all his life(probably Brady, since they are brothers). He will be so lonely without Brady.

If it was an owl that got Brady, at least he would have died while he was happy because he was free(which is what he loves).
