I have an orange roo..

that was beating up on another roo (below). I would like my covey to be reds/whites/ambers. I currently have 3 Italian, 1 Pearl and 1 red/white hen. There is one problem with the roo below, though his vent is small and looks similar to the other males, I have yet to see foam from it. Temperament wise, I saw the white one below be a bit rough with the girls when food first came out but the orange one chases the girls around quite a bit. Should I keep the red one above or the white one below? Wait some time to confirm foam or...? Ideas welcome! Thank you!

From unfortunate experience: put your favorite one in with the ladies but keep the other in another pen (a Rubbermaid is fine, doesn't need to be fancy), and if the first boy turns out to be a total jerk or infertile, you WON'T have made the mistake of sending your spare to the freezer.

If the two pictures on the bottom are the same bird, then that is a male.

Which one you breed really depends on what you're looking for in your covey. Personally, I would keep the one with the better temperament, but if the other one has a colour you really want, or other features, then that is the one you choose.

Oh yeah, he's still a baby, no need to worry yet!

Also be aware his personality could change as hormones kick in. We kept our biggest, sweetest boy... Who promptly started scalping his girls between one day and the next. Wait for personality decisions until you've got a proper teenager on your hands!

Ah wow, ok this would explain things. I have two roos, exact same color as the white one in pic and I've had the hardest time telling if roo or not because of the vent check. The coloring says roo, though. They are also quiet and nicer, so as you said, I'm guessing the hormones haven't kicked in and I'm going to have to wait a bit to really see how this rolls before I choose a roo.
