I have some eggs under my broody hen. The eggs have reached their hatch date and have started hatching. Sadly, I heard chirping in one of the eggs when I left for work, but when I returned home I heard nothing. I did some research and everything I found suggested that the chick had died. I opened the egg and, sure enough, it had died. Everything I saw said lack of oxygen. I became paranoid, so every chick I heard chirping I kept an eye on it. If the chick had not hatched or pipped after a few hours I opened the top of the shell to provide more oxygen. (did not open the membrane) So, I did this for one chick and it was doing good and it was chirping. I left the coop for about 5 minutes and came back to check and my hens had hopped into the box and were pecking on it. The egg was bleeding heavily and had some yolk coming out. The chick was still alive on the inside. I ran inside grabbed a napkin and started trying to clot the blood. I was not sure it was going to live for an hour. I left the napkin around it and went inside and hoped for the best. Fast forward to this morning. I went outside to check on the egg and my other chicks. The chick to my surprise was still alive and breathing. The membrane is still kind of there. I can see part of the bottom of the chick. I don't know what else to do.
Any advice is greatly appreciated?!?!
